I’m all very new at the whole database thing, and thought I had been following the instructions carefully. However, after uploading the assorted files as directed, when I run the Installer Script (/install.php), I am encountering an error at STEP 2. This is what the pages shows:

Good. A connection to your server has been established....

MySQL Error: 1044 Access denied for user ‘chapelupdate’@’66.33.192.0/255.255.224.0’ to database ‘chapelweb_pMachine’

Any ideas on what I need to do to finish installation?
pMachine Pro | Version 2.4

Thanks.

The database user you’re specifying ("chapelupdate") doesn’t have permission to use the specified database ("chapelweb_pMachine").  You may need to contact your Host or server admin to make sure the databse user has access privileges for that database as well as the required permissions: the user needs CREATE, DROP, and ALTER permissions at the very least.

I have checked the database configuration page at my Host, and the database user does indeed have permission to use the database. The database itself is up and functioning, since I can log into phpMyAdmin (mysql.camanochapel.org). In addition, the database user has the following permissions are checked: SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELET, CREATE, DROP, INDEX, ALTER.

Any other ideas to try?

Thanks again.

There are really no other possibilities.  The user that the install script runs as does not have permission to create database tables and add data to them, thus the error.  Your host may be correct, in that the user your account runs as does have those permissions, but the user the install script runs as doesn’t seem to.  Normally there isn’t a distinction between the two, but in your case there seems to be.  By the way, many hosts set up phpMyAdmin globally, running as a particular user, so just because you can use phpMyAdmin doesn’t mean that the install.php file has the same privileges.  As an exercise you might try creating another database, with all grant privileges enabled, and try using it.
