I have set up the public member page to show email addresses as mailto links. In two different installations, a particular email address was duplicated with the wrong name. In the last instance I noticed that one id number was 1 and the other id was 11. The id #1 showed the incorrect address.

So, you are saying that the person with the id of 1 was showing the email address of 11?

Yes, and as it happens the id’s involved in the other site were 7 and 17—7 was showing 17’s email address. That site has corrected itself, but the id 1 is still showing the address of 11 on the other site.

AHA! Upon further investigation I discovered that #1 did not have the ‘show email address’ or the ‘receive email through site’ boxes checked (probably the former was the one that affected the members page.)

It was apparently only coincidence about the 1 and 11 and 17 and 7, because they happened to be next on the list.

I had substituted the %% if_email %% variable for the %% if_email_as_link %% variable. The problem seems to be that instead of showing no email address if the box is not checked it shows the previous entry’s address.

My solution was to remove the choice of making your email public or not (commented it out in edit profile page and checking everyone’s for them). I have a small group and they did not want to use the site email form.

Thanks—

Hm, I wonder if the variable is not being reset on every loop (for each member).  I will look into it.  Thanks.
