It appears that an entry can be created in pmpro 2.3 with just a username (and no ip address).. This has the rather peculiar effect (but understandable) of disabling a bunch of member related stuff such as trying to create accounts - logging into an account -which could effectively block you out of your own system…

Errors are returned such at : Your registration could not be completed at this time - if the problem persists contact the system administrator.  And - Your account requires activation - (even though the account was activated).

If this is going to be fixed (simply checking for an entry in the IP field would suffice) - perhaps not allowing the administrator to ban his or herself might be a clever inclusion…

Just a thought..

I should also add that the entry without an IP could not be removed from the banned list…. I had to jump into the database with phpMyAdmin to sort it out…

This should not be possible.  I just tried on my copy and an entry was not stored without an IP address included.  Are you sure you are up to date with the files?
