I keep getting wierd/spam subscriptions to my mail list - info@will.com, info@test.com etc.  I take it the mailing list is not connected to the blacklist?

No, I don’t believe it is.  You could put the Mailing List subscription form inside a “member only” code check so that only members could subscribe.  Don’t know if that would be appropriate for your site or not.

Nope.

I could just leave them on there…not sure what they’re after, unless it’s the sending email address of the mailing list?

It’s crazy, I delete them off, and within the hour they’re back on.

I’m going to implement CAPTCHA’s on the commenting form - can I put them on the list subscription form as well?

I, too, have noticed that the mailing list gets filled with a lot of bogus addresses that seem to serve no purpose other than to cause a lot of messages to bounce back every time I send e-mail to the list.

Perhaps the mailing list module could be updated to include a step wherein new subscribers have to validate the subscription by responding to a message sent to the address in question (by clicking on a URL or something). That would keep the fakes out.
