Installed 2.3. Checked was working. Then tried installing 2.4. Desktop directory is shown in (1) below.

2.4 seemed to be installing fine until Step 11, Run Update script. When tried to access
http://www.content4action.com/pm/updates/index.php
got error message (2)

Figured out it was to do with pm_inc from trying to load site. Edited pm_inc as shown in (3). Uploaded as ASCII. But now get pm_inc error message when trying to load site.

All help gratefullt rec’d. Phil

I don’t know where you came up with that $script_directory_path setting you used, but it’s definitely not correct.  That setting should look something like:

$script_directory_path = "./";

See the Knowledge-Blog entry on setting the path in ‘pm_inc.php’ for some information.

Thanks Chris.

Pasted that in & uploaded. Still stumbling around like a drunk in a china shop. Wondering whether to strip whole installation out start from scratch. Anyway…

Logging onto http://content4action.com/ brings the index file list.

Trying http://content4action.com/pm/pm/index.php brings log-in dialog box. which doesn’t recognise user name & log in (which had to have reset), throwing up following error message

Warning: main(../pm/inc.sfx.inc) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content4/public_html/members/pm_inc.php on line 28

Warning: main(../pm/inc.sfx.inc) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content4/public_html/members/pm_inc.php on line 28

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘../pm/inc.sfx.inc’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/content4/public_html/members/pm_inc.php on line 28
The information is set incorrectly in the following file: “pm_inc.php”
Please open “pm_inc.php” with a text editor and correct the path.
You’ll find instructions located inside that file

Any suggestions for way out of maze? Phil

Well, going solely by what you’ve posted, I have no clue at all where you’ve installed pMachine Pro on your server, where the varioud files/directories are located, etc.  Without knowing exactly where you’ve installed things and what you’ve done I can’t really give you any concrete suggestions.

It’s been installed into a fresh shared hosting slot. As mentioned, 1st step was to install a free 2.3 via Fantastico. Checked that was working fine. Then started 2.4 upload. Far as know every file has been uploaded or deleted as according to pmachine.com/updates. Didn’t try to get clever. Just followed the instructions up to Step 11. BTW haven’t deleted updates directory yet.

Couple screen shots attached. Phil

I think the second screenshot there illustrates the problem: you have a second full “pm” directory nested inside of your other “pm/lib/” directory.  It definitely looks like something went wrong when you uploaded things.

Your directory structure for pM Pro on the server should basically be the same as the one in the v2.4 download ZIP you got from this site.
