Wish it was easier to migrate to Expression Engine

I really want to migrate to Expression Engine. I was reading the instructions and I was struck by how difficult it was. It isn’t as convenient as running a migration script.

First, the templates aren’t copied. And I’m not sure but the templates in EE don’t seem to work the same as PP. So i have to relearn and reformat.

Then I have to remap the URLs which is a headache for someone like myself who isn’t well versed in all the modrewrite mumbo jumbo.

Are you guys coming up with an easier way for brainless lagards like myself to jump onboard?

ExpressionEngine is a different program from pMachine Pro, which means that the way it works is simply different from pM Pro.  That has the consequence that your pM files can’t simply be ported over verbatim into an EE Template.  It is, unfortunately, simply impossible to have any sort of automatic conversion of the pM-file-to-EE-Template since they just don’t work the same way.

Basically, moving from pM Pro to EE is akin to moving to any other blogging platform (Movable Type, Wordpress, whatever) since it’s a separate program that works in a different way.  EE will, however, import your pMachine entries, users, etc.

Well, it simply isn’t possible.  There’s no way to make any sort of one-click feature that just automagically moves everything from pMachine to EE for you.  There’s too much human intuition and decision-making involved.  EE works fundamentally differently than pM so there often aren’t concrete one-to-one relationships between things.

If you don’t want to bother doing it yourself then you could hire someone else to do it.  I’d start looking with pMachine Services.
