Hey all,

I’m getting some wonky problems on a fresh 2.4 install:

- “visit your site” in the CP takes me back to the CP

in the CP:
- new entries don’t allow you to select a weblog
- new entries don’t show up
- user profile doesn’t allow you to select a default weblog
- no weblog prefs (after clicking the link)
- no entry form prefs in the CP (after clicking the link)
- no general prefs show in the CP (after clicking the link)

on the pages:
- in the home page (weblog.php), an error about a missing variable:
  Notice: Undefined variable: secure_forms in
  /home/sites/site245/web/clement/lib/search.fns.php on line 50
- in the forum, an error about a missing variable:
  Notice: Undefined variable: secure_forms in
  /home/sites/site245/web/clement/lib/search.fns.php on line 50
- no fields appear when you go to post (and you get the error again)

Is this fixable, or should I reinstall? Or change something in config.php?

Thanks!

Did you run the install.php file?  It sounds like you are missing the entire pm_prefs table.

Thanks for answering Paul.

I definitely ran the install. HOWEVER, it appeared to hang on Step 2 or 3. So, after 10 minutes, I stopped it and hit reload, then it reported “all good” after a few seconds. Maybe that’s the source of the problem.

Is it safe / workable to do a re-install over an existing installation, or should I follow some procedure for an “uninstall” (like going into the mySQL dbase and deleteing all the tables)?

Thanks again!

You can try the install again and it should overwrite any existing tables.  Double check that the user for your database has SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and ALTER permissions.

Vastly better Paul. Thanks. I did a reinstall and it’s all fine.

Minor correction, it got hung up between stages 3 and 4 last time, in the table creation part. Maybe something went wrong there.
