Obviously, this is a path issue. I was testing the 2.3Free version before the big announcement about PM going out of development. I never actually got it to work. I installed and was able to create entries and view them on the ‘site’ page included in the package. I WANTED to include a blog IN a page of my site, outside of the blog directory. I never managed to get that to work. I just got a path error message on the page instead.

I was about to give up when I heard the 2.4Pro version was free. I downloaded it. I deleted the 2.3 version from my seerver completely, removed and recreated my blog database, and and went through the new install instructions.

Now, I can enter the admin panel and create a new posting, but when I click ‘Visit your site’, I get this error:

Warning: main(./blog/pm/inc.sfx.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/chb/public_html/blog/pm_inc.php on line 28

Warning: main(): Failed opening ‘./blog/pm/inc.sfx.inc’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/chb/public_html/blog/pm_inc.php on line 28
The information is set incorrectly in the following file: “pm_inc.php”
Please open “pm_inc.php” with a text editor and correct the path.
You’ll find instructions located inside that file.

For what it’s worth, my hosting is on a cPanel Unix set up. If that help understand the path structure. cPanel is pretty common, I think.

Looks like the problem starts here: pm_inc.php
My Pmachine folder is calleg ‘blog’, and it is on the root of account chb. Here is how I have pm_inc.php set up:

// Name of your main script (“pm”) directory:

$script_directory_name = “pm”;
// Relative path to this directory:
// The path is from the perspective of the directory containing THIS file.

$script_directory_path = “./blog/”;

You have the wrong values specified, so you’re getting the errors.  Try these:

$script_directory_name = “blog”;

$script_directory_path = “./”;

Well, I did as you instructed, and it still didn’t work. Here is the error:

Warning: main(./blog/inc.sfx.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/chb/public_html/blog/pm_inc.php on line 28

Warning: main(): Failed opening ‘./blog/inc.sfx.inc’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/chb/public_html/blog/pm_inc.php on line 28
The information is set incorrectly in the following file: “pm_inc.php”
Please open “pm_inc.php” with a text editor and correct the path.
You’ll find instructions located inside that file

In this configuration, the code is looking for ‘inc.sfx.inc’ in the ‘blog’ directory, but it is actually in the ‘pm’ directory. Here are the current path and name settings:

$script_directory_name = “blog”;
$script_directory_path = “./”;

I’m open for a second try…

Thanks!

I guess I don’t understand what your directory structure is.  Hopefully, this entry from the Knowledge-Blog will help you figure out the right settings to use.
