User registers without name

I’ve had a user successfully register without a user name, which means I haven’t been able to bring a profile up to see what IP address he’s posting from. The e-mail is from “mail.ru,” and links to a dating site, so I guess this is some kind of comment spamming, though I’m the only one who can see it (I think!).

My blog sets a minimum of 4 characters to a username, and I’m not sure how this was avoided. Help?

Whoops, OK, just saw the Comment Spamming thread. The two russian e-mail addresses named are the two I’ve been hit with. Thanks for posting the IP number of the first, which was the one I couldn’t see.

I’ve had these people at my site as well.  I also read the comment spamming thread, but can’t seem to find a way to delete these users, or even access their profile to check out the IP address.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Glenn,

Go to the “IP Banning” page of the control panel and enter these IP addresses:

64.237.57.150
66.199.238.21

Those were the two that were bugging me…hope it works for you!

Thanks much.  I guess another question is, how do I remove them from my members list, and how did you find those IP addresses?

Either way, thanks again for your help.

Someone posted the IP addresses in one of the Comment Spam threads—I don’t know how he got them, since I’m not much of a techie myself.

I was only able to remove one person from my members list, though. Maybe that’s the next question…

Very good.  Well thanks again, and us “non-techies” will have to continue to depend on all the smart people out there to help us out.  I the meantime, thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.
