Is it possible to allow readers to be notified when a story is commented on, without having posted a comment themselves?

One of the more recent Bug Fix releases for pMachine Pro added this ability (see the “Subscribe to Thread” link above the comment box on this page).  Check the pMachine Bug Fixes forum for information and make sure you’re up-to-date on all the fixes/releases.

I can see that it works in forums, but how do I let readers to subscribe to comments added to stories, not forum topics?

The forum is just a regular weblog “in diguise”, so I don’t think there’s any reason that the same thing wouldn’t work for “regular” weblogs.
