restricting forum weblogs - can anyone help?

I would like to be able to set up a restricted forum - say for admins only. As well as have some public ones.

It’s easy enough to control their visibility on the forum index page, using member privileges, but how can I stop these “restricted” entries appearing both in the individual profile page (“list_member_entries” tag) and in search results.

I’ve browsed the forum but not been able to find anything.

many thanks

Search results is easy enough since you can specify which weblogs (i.e. forums) to include in the search.  Check the Tag Library and look at the search tags.

As for the “list_member_entries”... Unfortunately, there’s no way to limit/restrict that without hacking the backend.

thanks for the quick reply.

I will look more closely at the search tag as you suggest.

I realised (or rememberd) after I posted the question, that I can specify different, forum.php, preview.php and threads.php pages for the restricted forum weblogs and then insert the member priviledges code, and get round the problem that way.  So the public may see the titles in the member profile page, but they can’t read them.

cheers

Yes, that’s exactly what we have happening on one of the sites I help run, too.  Ideally, I’d prefer the entries to not even be listed by “list_member_entries”, but as long as only the right people can see the content… [shrug]
