Can’t send comments since a few weeks: registered users get error 90 (can’t send comments now or something like that, translated from spanish) and unregistered users get error 91 (you haven’t filled all the fields). The site is www.ofdnews.com, it uses SEF url’s, captchas and fckeditor. I tried with the non SEF url with captchas and fckeditor disabled and i still get the same errors.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards.

photek, you’re running software that is no longer supported. There are very few users here these days that have any real experience with pMachine PRO.

What changed on your server? Anything?

php 4.4.4? apache security upgrade? apart from that nothing else. and it wasn’t working before anyways. I know i should upgrade to EE, in fact i have built a couple of new sites with EE commercial, but i haven’t time to upgrade this site right now, i need to fix it.

Upgrading would certainly help. It could be 4.4.4, but I’m not certain. You could EECore this. As far as fixing it goes, are you on the last version of pMachine? Have you tried reloading the files?

But I suspect the php version may be it. You can set up EECore and migrate your entries over. The original site can stay live until you get the time to change the look and feel. Just use the same MySQL database.

Or have your server downgraded to an earlier version of PHP to see if it fixes it.

eecore allows a collective weblog without registration required? for users to register do i need the pro version or eecore do it? there is no special member content, it’s the same content, just that they can send comments faster

EECore doesn’t have a membership option, and there is no such thing as a collective weblog without registration. Even in the professional version you need membership to post.

Commenting doesn’t require membership, they can do that without membership.

Now you can get around the non-member posting by using Solspace’s Freeform offering, and moblogging the resulting post.

NOTE: Moblogging isn’t available in EECore either.

err, in pmachine pro people is sending stories without registering, you mean if i upgrade to ee pro people would be forced to register in order to post stories? and with ee core they couldn’t post at all as membership is required?

Yes, they would be required to be registered in order to post an entry. You can get around this by moblogging in an entry. In EECore they can still post, but they’d need to be logged in/registered. You have to register them by hand.

so i should pay, waste time to migrate site & do a hack in order to get the same functionality i had until a few weeks with pmachine pro? i know ee is more powerful, but in this specific case i really don’t get nothing better of it.

isn’t there any support at all for pmachine pro? i have 2, soon 3 commercial licenses of EE, and no way of getting support for pmachine pro, which i paid at the moment too?

There is no offical support for pMachine PRO. The product is no longer being updated. The number of people who use it has dwindled. It’s been that way for a while now.

You get a lot more with EE. A real forum, better RSS support, multiple categories, better integration of custom code, queries, a photo gallery. As well as custom fields. Is it a better blogging tool? Not necessarily. I don’t use EE as a blogging tool. I use it to control full blown sites as well as a blogging component.

You could see if another host with a lesser version can get this to work for you.
