I’m hosting pMachine pro for a client. It was working fine - but I upgraded to fedora core 4 and now no one can log in. FC4 uses MySQL 4.1 and PHP 5.

Attempts to log in fail. No messages, just returns to the login screen. The forgot password link also does nothing but return to the login screen.

I did a new test install and this just doesn’t work. The first install page comes up. I click on the link - the second page comes up. It says:

Good.  A connection to your server has been established….

And - that’s it - nothing else - no links to click on.

Best I can tell pMachine pro doesn’t seem to be Fedora Core 4 compatible. Is it MySQL 5? Sure can use some help. The client is Mike malloy of Air America Radio.

ok - I got it working.

The passwords are different between MySQL 3 and MySQL 4.1

My solution wasn’t pretty, there’s a better way to do it I’m sure. What I did was a new install. Then I went into the new database and copied the hashed password. I then went into the old database and pasted the password and then I could log in. The client hasn’t yet tested it but I did manage to log in.

It also requires pMachine pro 2.4 or later to be MySQL 4.1 compatible. And - I had to increase the memory limit in the /etc/php.ini file. I set it to 16m.
