How long should it take?

Install went fine - But now admin tools does not retain any changes

Hi Everyone,

I installed just fine. I am in the proces of configuring the site. But when I make any changes in the admin tool (like modifying a template)but when I go back to the same template, the original version still appears. When I make the changes and save, “template updated” does appear at the top. Anyone have a clue on this one? Thanks in advance for your help.

basic installation problems… localhost and file placement

I’m having some trouble on page 2 of the installation, pmachine cannot communicate with my db.

My website is clay.bellmor.com, an offshoot of bellmor.com. I installed the contents of the pmachine folder into the same directory as my site content, which is clay.bellmor.com/pfc/.

I didn’t rename pm, so my config.php looks like this:

localhost="http://clay.bellmor.com/pfc/"
db user name="clay_jinks" note: my cpanel automatically tacks on ‘clay_’ to everything in mysql.
db="clay_pmachine"
db password=...well, that’s private.

When page 2 of the installation loads, it simply states that it cannot connect. I don’t know what to fix… my cpanel is acting weird… loading a page takes a minute or two, literally. But sites hosted on the server load fine… so I don’t know if my server-side programs are in chaos. I don’t actually maintain the server… so I wouldn’t know.

I don’t know if this is enough information to see a problem. I keep thinking my localhost name is incorrect; I’ve installed the contents of pMachine into the /pfc/ directory of clay.bellmor.com… so I figured that http://clay.bellmor.com/pfc/ was correct.

Any help would be great. I was ecstatic to learn pmachine is free. I reviewed it 5 years ago… glad to see it still rocks.

Importing old posts from Serendipity

Hello, newbie here.

I just set up pMachine on my website through Fantastico. I previously had a blog that I set up manually using <a href="http://s9y.org">Serendipity</a> blog software, and would like to import my old serendipity posts to my new pMachine blog, if at all possible.

I’ve heard there’s a relatively easy way to do this, something to do with RSS files. I have my old Serendipity RSS, but I can’t figure out where to put it in my new pMachine folders.

If anyone can think of another way, I’ll try that too. I’d just really hate to see these posts disappear.

MySQL error 1064 only at pm_events on brand new install

I’ve seen many comments on 1064 but this question hasn’t been answered (at least not so I can understand it)…

When I run the install file I get this:

MySQL Error: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘repeat char(2) not null, t_stamp int unsigned not null, year char(4) not null,’ at line 4
Query: create table pm_events ( id int unsigned not null auto_increment primary key, link_id varchar(50) not null, repeat char(2) not null, t_stamp int unsigned not null, year char(4) not null, month char(2) not null, day char(2) not null, show_time char(1) not null, title tinytext not null, description text not null )
Error. Unable to create table: pm_events

I’ve looked at the MySQL 5.0 manual. I’m assuming that the error is in one of those three lines listed. I don’t see anything that I can change in the install file, I’m not very good with MySQL and don’t see the problem. All other tables are coming in perfectly.

Issues with posting new entries after moving to new server with newer version of MySQL

Hi,

After migrating my PMachine PRO installation to a new server, I have an issue with new posts. I can type the new post, select category etc. without a glitch, I can as well click Send in order to publish it. Afterwards I get no error messages at all but just a server something has been pinged etc. (as expected).

So it looks like the new post is posted but it never shows up on the PMachine PRO site, and when I check all posts in PMachine Admin console, the new ones aren’t listed?

I should mention that I, during the move, exported all content from an older MySQL installation to a newer version.

Has anybody else experienced this?

406 not acceptable

Hello - trying to intall V2.4.1 manually and I get the below error at step 7

Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /changed/install.php could not be found on this server.

I uploaded and revised files (to the best of my knowledge) twice as per the install instructions

please advise… thanks!

Login problem after upgrade from pMFree2.3 to Pro2.4

I´ve just updated my pMachine Free2.3 to Pro2.4 and got the Congratulations message and all. But when trying to login to my CP it says that “The username and/or password you submitted are not correct”.
When using the Forgotten Password form, it says “Could not find your email in the database”.

Tried turning debug on in config.php and got this:

MySQL Error: 1046 No Database Selected
Query: SELECT pm_value FROM pm_prefs WHERE pm_option = ‘adminemail’

MySQL Error: 1046 No Database Selected
Query: SELECT pm_value FROM pm_prefs WHERE pm_option = ‘sitename’

MySQL Error: 1046 No Database Selected
Query: SELECT pm_value FROM pm_prefs WHERE pm_option = ‘memdir’

MySQL Error: 1044 Access denied for user: ‘web10200@195.128.174.104’ to database ‘MySQL’

MySQL Error: 1046 No Database Selected
Query: select member_id,signature from pm_members where email=’randi@aub.dk’

Sorry if my problem is evident, but I have no knowledge at all about this technical stuff

Problems with Upgrade pM 2.2.1 to 2.4

hi all

i decided to upgrade my weblog from pM 2.2.1 to 2.4. the upgrading process went fine and produced no troubles. but unfortunately some things went wrong afterwards, when i tried to use the updated version of pMachine.

- my main weblog page shows no entries at all, but instead, when i turn debugging on, it states:

MySQL Error: 1054 Unknown column ‘sticky’ in ‘order clause’
Query: select *, GREATEST(c_date, t_stamp) AS cw_date from pm_weblog where weblog = ‘weblog’ and status = ‘open’ and preview != ‘1’ and t_stamp <= ‘1156505108’ and x_stamp >= ‘1156505108’ order by sticky DESC, t_stamp desc limit 0, 15

and

Notice: Undefined variable: secure_forms in lib/search.fns.php on line 50

- categories on the weblog main page are shown, but they have no connection to my former categorized entries.
- i am not able to fully use “new entry” in my control panel, when i try to save a new entry, the last one i edited in 2.2.1 shows up, but no new entry is saved. so i guess something is wrong with mysql.

what can i do? any ideas?

Hey guys, for some strange reason I get this error, I have no idea if that is a server issue, if the mysql database isnt correct, the knowledge base says something about php errors being reported too high or something I changed that variable to zero, I also tried changing the database connection type and that didn’t work either. Any ideas on this because I am stumped!! I am also using pmachine pro 2.3.
